Congratulations, you’ve done it. Monday 15th January was officially 2018’s Blue Monday, the most depressing date of the entire year, and it was certainly a bad one (see our Weekly Low). But what this does mean, at least, is it’s all downhill from here. Consider yourself a real hero for beating the hump.
This week saw the collapse of Carillion, Britain’s second largest construction giant which is also responsible for a huge number of government maintenance and management contracts. Thankfully job losses look to be far fewer than many first feared when news hit, but it still represents a huge case of mismanagement and awful PR for the firm’s industry.
