August 2013 in the SGPR study

With the air beginning to spell an impending change of season it’s fitting that we’re currently focused on the future. So think a brand new technologically advanced client, and more award nominations. First up then we’re delighted to announce the arrival of HEXBUG, the latest brand to employ our services on a retained basis.
Manufactured by U.S. engineering firm Innovation First, the toys use micro-robotics to mimic the movement of real insects, and have already proved a huge hit amongst children here in the UK. Understandably, then, our team can’t wait to have some fun helping drum up serious coverage and exposure ahead of the Christmas rush and beyond.
We’re also delighted to spread the news that Smoking Gun PR has picked up a few more nominations for accolades, making for another entry into the office’s ceremonial diary. Shortlisted in the media relations, Corporate Social Responsibility, Consumer Campaign and Consultancy categories at the Fresh PR Awards 2013, we’ll be on collective tenterhooks until the event, which takes place in Manchester, on 25th September.
An agency is only as good as its people, and that certainly rings true here on Quay Street. Our senior PR account manager, Lisa, has been selected as a finalist for the Australian Pedestrian. TV Blogster awards in the ‘Media’ category for her blog, sydneysocial101.com, after running the domain remotely since returning from Australia in November last year. To vote click here, ‘like’ and share on Facebook, with judgements being cast based on the level of likes each candidate achieves.
Meanwhile, MD Rick Guttridge is still waiting to find out if he’s to be honoured as the Marketing and Communications Personality of the Year at the Mancoolian Awards in October. Click here for a chance to have your say in things. A busy time to say the least, it makes you wonder how we also managed to generate some 6million opportunities to see our client’s brands across print and digital, and helped clients notch up 526,000 social media impressions, in the last month alone. Update complete then, we’ll see you back here in another four weeks or so.
