August 2015 in the Smoking Gun study
What do you get if you cross a month that’s notoriously bad for new business, half an inbox full of out of office replies, and the UK’s most ingenious public relations team? How about more coverage than can possibly be read in four weeks, another client win, and a record number of approaches from firms looking for assistance?
Those who put money on that being the answer can give themselves a pat on the back. Despite the world and his dog taking time off in August, here at Smoking Gun PR we have achieved some unbelievable things in recent times, all of which we’re understandably proud of, and want to share with you.
First and foremost, then, luxury products brand Julian Charles has signed up for our services, adding yet another high profile name to the burgeoning homes and interiors PR list. We’ll be offering support by way of social media and public relations after successfully pitching with the kind of ideas that have so far won us both praise and awards aplenty.
We’d also like to draw some attention to the phenomenal exposure Silentnight has received of late. The heatwave some parts of the country experienced, and our cunning plan to send out SOS cooler packs to influential members of the media, resulted in more column inches than the Parthenon (well, kind of). And our team also scored big amongst the broadcasters, who were equally keen to chill out and escape the searing office temperatures.
We also received a little gift pack ourselves, from the good folk at Vita Coco, who may make the best coconut water in the world. We were delighted when the refreshing goodies turned up, as you can probably tell.
It has also been a particularly strong month for enquiries. In fact, stronger than ever, with scores of potential new clients asking for details on exactly how we can help. These have ranged from celebrity to transport and tourism- all sectors we know a thing or two about and have a proven track record for making a significant splash with. Watch this space for details as they emerge on exactly what additions to the roster we have in the pipeline.
After all that you could be forgiven for assuming we’d all declared it Pimm’s O’Clock. But, although the office roof terrace has seen some action, and Britain’s favourite summertime drink has never been far away, we’ve still been hard at work coming up with more fantastic concepts on behalf of the companies we love. Meanwhile, our MD, Rick Guttridge, went AWOL, but was later found being used as a plug for the sinkhole that appeared in the Mancunian Way here in Manchester following our plea on social media for information. And, last but definitely not least, our very own Louise Woodward has added another little recruit to our burgeoning Team Baby, with her first child having just arrived. A huge congratulations then; now, onwards and upwards.
