Thought for the Week

We’re not going to count on it until we see it,” U.S. President Barack Obama, commenting on Russia’s need to see through its promise to support the tentative agreement reached yesterday in Geneva, which will involve the disarming of illegal protesters and an end to violence currently threatening to drag Ukraine into civil war.

Weekly High

We love technology, we love travel, and we love a unique idea. Full marks to the creators of Hvísl – Whispers of Iceland, then, as they have put together a beautiful book boasting excellent photography and built in sounds to represent the country of ice hotels and ash clouds. OK, so it’s hardly the perfect read for a flight but, nevertheless, it impressed us.

Weekly Low

Never has the phrase ‘be careful what you tweet’ been more appropriate. This situation involves a delayed U.S. Airways flight, a staff member who obviously doesn’t check the Twitter feed closely enough, and an irate passenger that decided to share a picture of a plane protruding from a certain orifice. Amazingly, said image somehow wound up being used in a statement on the company account. Uh-oh.

Stories to keep an eye on

*A buyer has still not been found for struggling British broadcaster Channel 5, with a potential sale to Discovery falling through this week.
*According to a study by Google, almost 20% of YouTube viewers now ‘pay less attention to TV’.

Just in case you missed it…
