Thought for the week

“I predict that in 10 years’ time maths, English and science will still be core subjects but technology will have been completely embraced and will be used extensively by a generation of teachers who grew up with it.” David Hanson, the chief executive of the Independent Association of Prep Schools, discussing predicted changes to the UK education system in an article over at Guardian.co.uk.

Weekly High

There’s no better start to a Friday than a pep talk from Kid President. His latest is currently riding high in the viral chart, but even if it weren’t we’d probably still include it. A great example of infinitely shareable, professional quality content that’s easy to make, work aside it’s also more inspirational than any of the real politicians we’ve heard recently.

Weekly low

Pfizer Animal Health has launched a new drug for K9s, Rimadyl. Unfortunately, though, it seems people forgot to stop and think about the campaign name, and check to make sure it wouldn’t end up being the butt of a rather sordid joke. So then, we give you Rima-Dog, a decision someone, somewhere, is probably going to live to regret. Oops indeed.

Things that may happen in the next week

On Wednesday the European Commission will begin investigating a dispute between the UK and Spain over Gibraltar’s border, and make an assessment of the border controls in place and the free movement of people and goods, including fraud and smuggling. David Cameron should look red in the face after commenting that Tottenham Hostpur fans should be allowed to call themselves ‘Yids’. The Assad regime will begin peace treaty talks with opposition forces as the Syrian conflict reaches a ‘stalemate’.

Just in case you missed it…
