Instagram opens their doors to advertisers…
The photo sharing app, owned by Facebook, has just made the leap into advertising. Set to rival fellow brands like Twitter and Google, marketers can now buy Instagram ads.
Previously, to purchase an Instagram ad, an Instagram sales representative had to be contacted directly, meaning Instagram advertising was only available for those who are time and cash rich.
Now, all advertisers will soon be able to set up Instagram ads whilst monitoring other adverts across other social media channels using third-party platforms.
Advertising on Instagram has the potential to surpass competitors Google and Twitter in terms of US mobile display ad revenues by 2017 and generate $595 million in advertising revenue in 2015, EMarketer predicts.
One of Instagram’s application programming interfaces, Hootsuite said: “This integration will also make marketers and social media managers more efficient as they will no longer have to switch between their phone and computer to track all aspects of a social media campaign???.
