Smoking Gun teams up with The Blog Awards 2014
We love blogs, and not just our own lovely public relations focused URL (which you’re reading right here), or our Account Manager Lisa Hollinshead’s award winning Sydney101. Good as both are.
Considering our passion for words penned on behalf of enthusiastic individuals, collectives and companies it’s really no surprise that we have been approached to act as PR, media, marketing and communications partner for The Blog Awards 2014 (#UKba14), the first ceremony of its kind in Britain. Taking into consideration contenders in no less than 12 core categories, it’s set to be the inaugural comprehensive appraisal of a sector that has constantly been on the rise for more than a decade now, with 30% more bloggers writing today than three years ago.
Entries are being accepted until 1st December, so anyone posting stories about Events, Weddings, Media and Communications, Retail & Fashion, Arts and Culture, Digital & Technology, Travel, Healthcare, Lifestyle, Education, Automotive and Food & Drink can submit their domain to be assessed until then. Once the application date has passed the public will be allowed to vote for their favourites in each category between 2nd December and 13th January, at which point a panel of expert judges will decide on the overall victors from those that passed public approval.
In addition to the core sectors, three specialist sub categories are also open for submissions. These include Best Young Blogger, Most Innovative Blog and the Digital Shoreditch Dedicated Blog Award. A dinner will be held on 25th April 2014, in London, to honour the successful bloggers and their successful blogs, wherein you can expect the great and good of web 2.0 to be in attendance. For full details of how to enter click here. A first for this country, it should be clear by now why we’re so eager to be involved, but just in case we’ll set the record straight.
Smoking Gun PR’s focus on innovation and ingenuity in the media is a perfect fit for the first national cross-industry blog awards to be held here in the UK. We value get up and go attitudes, people who think outside the box and want to make an impact, and those who show proficiency and excellence in the digital realm. It’s the same reason we’re one of the pioneering firms involved in Britain’s first ever social media apprenticeship scheme, run in conjunction with City & Guilds. And it’s the same reason we’ll continue to source the most forward thinking, boundary pushing public relations team imaginable. Speaking of which, enough babble, it’s probably time to get back to the task at hand.
