The Blagger's Blog 10th July 2015
A weekly roundup of media news and talking points, sans effort
Quote of the week
“Dear blah blah blah.” An email sent out by HM Treasury yesterday, to a contacts list of lobby journalists and correspondents. So bad it’s actually funny.
Whether this is really a high or not depends on if you love it or hate it. Still, you can’t help but be impressed with Marmite’s shrewd business acumen after the product was named ‘Second Most Confiscated Item At London City Airport in 2014’, and then the brand brought out a 70g travel size jar that is allowed in hand luggage. Good work.
Oh dear, oh dear, Co-Op. As if the group hadn’t already had a rough time of things in recent years (big losses at the bank, the buyout of an ethical firm by U.S. hedge funds), this week the retail arm somehow managed to charge customers who bought food and petrol on 7th July twice. Not everyone was affected, but nevertheless it doesn’t look great.
